May 17, 2022 it was determined that Guy Rex could now be able to see his Dad and go home with him. The joyous reunion at the court house as shown on video said it all. Guy was so happy that he ran and jumped into his Dad’s arms not once but twice. Earlier in the day when accompanied by his mother’s lawyer or step dad he barely acknowledged his dad or paternal grandparents.
As Guy Rex’s paternal grandparents we have seen the change in his demeanor prior to May 17, 2022. In the three short visits we were able to have with him in late March early April he was not very talkative and very reserved. It was very hard to get him to engage which is not like him at all. To see the expression on his face at the court house when he was told he could go home with Dad made our hearts full. The hugs we received that day were the best in such a very long time.
He was so excited to be able to go home with Dad. He stated he remembered where all the rooms were in the house and it was very ‘spacious’. He asked about his sister Maya, we told him she could get around in her walker pretty good now. He was very excited about being able to see her again.
Once at the house he ran all over and then went up to his room, flopped on his bed and said ‘it’s so good to be home ‘.
